What is the Rosary?
The Rosary is a devotion in honor of our Queen Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. We honor her “yes” at the annunciation when she agreed to participate in salvation history as the mother of God, the Son. We honor her Queenship as the Queen Mother of the King of Kings. We honor her spiritual motherhood over the church as declared by Jesus when He said from the Cross to His mother and to John, His disciple, “…Woman, here is your son. Here is your mother…” (John 19:26-27). And, we honor Mother Mary as obedient children in following her directive to, “…do whatever His [Jesus] tells you” (John 2;5).

Why do Catholics pray the Rosary?
The beads of the Rosary are a collection of prayers and scriptures that condense the gospel to the palm of the hand. We prayer the Rosary in meditation focusing on the good news of the Gospel – Salvation. With each decade that we pray, Mother Mary guides us through the life of her Son and His saving acts.
